confidence of his ability to direct wisely and successfully a body of investigators which included members of Chinese and Egyptian
nationalities.
Since the return of the Commission in January, 1922, Dr.
Anderson has been appointed Overseas Research Fellow of this
Institution. During the past year he has, on several occasions, relieved me of part of my duties in teaching and examining large classes of medical graduates, and I am fully satisfied that he
possesses the qualities which characterise him both as a successful
and a devoted teacher.
I have been personally acquainted with him since 1904 when
he was still a student at Glasgow University. He has an unique and
lovable personality, a rare humour and an unfailing good temper.
His wide interests and sympathies befit him in a peculiar degree to
represent the best ideals of the West among the peoples of the Far
East.
The Secretary,
Board of Education,
Whitehall,

Yours faithfully,
